Call to Worship                                                                                                       Christine Peters

   O people, praise our God- the Artist of creation, the Lord of heaven and earth.

   We worship our Maker with resounding praise!

   In God we live and move and have our being;

   it is the Lord who gives us life and breath.

   God has kept us among the living and not let our feet slip.

   God formed all people to seek the Lord; indeed, our Creator is never far away.

   Bless the Lord, who is faithful to us!

*Hymn #239                   Good Christians All, Rejoice and Sing!                      Gelobt Sei Gott

Call to Confession                                                                                                    Andrew Peters

Prayer of Confession

   “If you love me, you will keep my commandments,” you said.

   And, in the same breath, you promised an Advocate would come to us.

   You, Lord, were faithful to your promise. But we- we have broken your law

   of love. We have hoarded resources, rather than feeding your sheep.

   We have stoked competition, rather than kneeling at others’ feet.

   We have kept silent, rather than testifying to our belief.

   For not showing our love for you but loving one another, forgive us.

   Help us obey your commandments and keep us ever faithful to your Word

   by the power of your Spirit, who abides with and among us.

Assurance of Pardon

Passing of Peace

   The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

   And also with you.

Anthem                                             Wayfaring Stranger                                      Garry Cornell

   I'm just a goin' over Jordan, I'm just a goin' over home.

   I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger, travelin' through this world of woe;

   but there's no sickness, no toil or danger in that bright land to which I go.

   I'm goin' there to see my Savior, I'm goin' there no more to roam.

   I'm just a goin' over Jordan, I'm just a goin' over home.

   I know dark clouds will gather 'round me, I know my way is rough and steep;

   but golden fields lie on before me, where God's redeemed no more shall weep.

   I'm goin' there to see my Savior, I'm goin' there no more to roam.

   I'm just a goin' over Jordan, I'm just a goin' over home.

   I want to sing salvation's story, I'm goin' with that freedom band;

   I want to wear a crown of glory the day I reach that holy land.

   I'm goin' there to see my Savior, I'm goin' there no more to roam.

   I'm just a goin' over Jordan, I'm just a goin' over home.

Reading                                    Break Forth in Joyous Song                                 Marilyn Biery

                                                                                                                         Lori Hoffman, reader

Solo                                        When Morning Gilds the Skies                                Geneva, 1551

                                                                                                                   Derek Dahlke, tenor solo

   When morning gilds the skies, my heart awaking cries: may Jesus Christ be praised!

   When evening shadows fall, this rings my curfew call: may Jesus Christ be praised!

   When mirth for music longs, this is my song of songs: may Jesus Christ be praised!

   God’s holy house of prayer has none that can compare with “Jesus Christ be praised!”

   To him, my highest and best, I sing, when love possessed: may Jesus Christ be praised!

   Whatever my hands begin, this blessing shall break in: may Jesus Christ be praised!

   No lovelier antiphon in all high heaven is known than “Jesus Christ be praised!”

   There to the eternal Word the eternal psalm is heard: Oh, Jesus Christ be praised!

   Let all of humankind in this their concord find: may Jesus Christ be praised!

   Let all the earth around ring joyous with the sound: may Jesus Christ be praised!

   Sing, sun and stars of space, sing, all who see his face, sing, “Jesus Christ be praised!”

   God’s whole creation o’er, today and evermore, shall Jesus Christ be praised!

                                                      -German hymn, 19th century, translated by Robert Bridges

The Words of Institution

The Lord’s Prayer

   Our Father in heaven,

     hallowed be your name,

     your kingdom come,

     your will be done,

     on earth as in heaven.

   Give us today our daily bread.

   Forgive us our sins

     as we forgive those who sin against us.

   Save us from the time of trial

     and deliver us from evil.

   For the kingdom, the power,
