Second Presbyterian is Special

Whether you are looking for a new church home or just curious about what Second has to offer,
our doors are open to you.

Here are a few things that set us apart.

Passion for Mission

Our congregation is uncommonly committed, with active mission teams addressing issues of social justice, education, homelessness, elder care, and more.

Diversity & Inclusion

We are LGBTQ friendly and welcome all to full participation and membership regardless of sex, age, race, ethnic background, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, political ideals or worldly condition.

Varied Music

Many of our members were first drawn to Second by the music. Our vocal and handbell choirs, Schantz organ, and Couts Musc Series are under the direction of Andrew Peters.

Relevant, Engaging Sermons

Members describe a typical sermon at Second as “thought provoking,” “insightful,” and “relevant."

Green, Earthcare Congregation

We care deeply about our planet. Second became a Certified Earth Care Congregation in 2013 and our Earthcare Team works to defend and heal creation.

A Place for Children

At Second, children are included in worship through a special “Sacred Space” portion of the service, and a weekly music program. We also offer childcare and Sunday school each week.

Urban Location

The Central West End is St. Louis' most densely populated neighborhood. We're just minutes from Washington University, St. Louis University, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Forest Park, and the Cortex District.
