We meet regularly and participate in a variety of activities and also serve in various capacities here at 2PC and throughout the surrounding community of the Central West End and the St. Louis metro area.

If you are interested in any of the activities found on this page or if you have other ideas for involvement, feel free to contact Second Generation/s/ Coordinators at 2ndgens@gmail.com.

 Everybody's Gotta Eat...

but not alone!

Join 2nd Generation/s/ each week for lunch and meaningful conversation following worship. (You'll have enough time to say your "hellos" and grab a treat from Niccolls Hall!)

Join us in the 2PC gym for some calorie burning fun social time!!
Please wear gym floor friendly tennis shoes.

Field Trip with Washington Montessori School hosted by 2nd Generation/s/
May 15, 2010
2nd Generation/s/ sponsored an end of the year field trip to Meramec Caverns for children from the Washington Montessori School on MAy 15th! The 24 kids went on a tour of the caves and got to make their own fossils in the underground classroom! After a picnic lunch, we headed to 2PC to use the gym for our afternoon activities due to the rain and the children had a great time burning some energy with a game of kickball! Many thanks to our chaperones - Katie, Megan, Erin, Carolyn, Candace, Ellen, Brian, Michelle and Sarah!

Halloween 2009
2nd Generation/s/ members helping pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters that came to 2PC!

Other Possibilities

Habitat for Humanity Build Days/Volunteering at the ReStore

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a retail store that accepts donated building products (i.e. windows, doors, appliances, sinks, etc.) which are then resold to the general public to help support Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis in their efforts to help build decent and affordable housing for middle to low income families. The hours of operation for the ReStore are 9:00AM-4:00PM Tuesdays through Saturdays. We require all volunteers to work a minimum of 4 hours for any day of volunteering. We are looking for groups to assist us any day Tuesday through Saturday. Check out the Habitat website for more details.

Centenary CARES

Centenary CARES is an outreach ministry of Centenary United Methodist Church located in the heart of downtown St. Louis. CARES opened its doors in December 2005. CARES Outreach Mission Statement: CARES Outreach provides sanctuary for homeless and at-risk persons in St. Louis. Meals and support services for basic human needs are offered by a staff intent on eradicating homelessness, by guiding guests on a path to self-sufficiency.

I am working with the folks at Centenary to set up a time when we would be able to serve a meal at CARES after walking The Trail.

EnergyCare STL

Each year, scores of volunteers (adults, school and church groups, individuals) contribute several thousand hours weatherizing homes of clients, preparing weatherization kits, repairing air conditioners, collecting heaters and blankets, preparing mailings, and working on other activities. Winter is just around the corner and many people in our community, especially in today's tough economic climate, could benefit greatly from reduced energy bills.
