Latin America Action Team

In 2000, following Hurricane Mitch, 23 members of the presbytery traveled to Plan Grande 2, a very small community in northwestern Nicaragua.  That was the beginning of a long and important relationship between Plan Grande 2 and Second Presbyterian Church.  In numerous trips to Nicaragua, adults and youth of Second Presbyterian have worked alongside villagers in the community, planting coffee, holding vacation bible school, teaching English, and even creating a 'media extravaganza' complete with slides and s'mores. The youth also attended school with the Nicaraguan scholarship students and worked with the partnership committee to develop networking resources for the accompaniment process in community development.
