Girl Scouts

This the 6th year Second Church has led a Girl Scout troop. The church partially underwrites the cost of this program for 12 girls, and 10 of us volunteer once per week. Girl Scouting provides these girls after-school enrichment that they would not otherwise receive, e.g. swim lessons at the YMCA, cooking lessons at the church, and field trips to significant sites in the community. Our intent is not to entertain the girls, but to provide activities that increase their knowledge, skills, and self-esteem.
